Another big weekend of the Premier League is set for match-week 28. Yet after completing 27 weeks in the Premier League of 2025-2026, all those positions from championship to relegation are vigorously contested. This week, there will be interesting contests which can change the complexion of the table in many areas.
Wolves vs Aston Villa: Wolverhampton Wanderers will face Aston Villa at Molineux. After last week’s controversy on racial abuse against Arokodare, Rob Edwards’ side will be in the battle to avoid the record of lowest point in a season. They still need 2 points to clear the record of Derby County, who scored 11 points in 2007-08, which, to date, is registered as the lowest points scored by a team in the entire Premier League season. On the other hand, Unai Emery’s Villa side is still in the race, though they have made their journey by losing 7 points in the last 5 games, ending with 2 draws, 1 defeat, and 2 wins. An away win can boost their journey and belief again.
Liverpool vs West Ham: Another important clash for both sides in the Premier League. While Arne Slot’s side will look for their 4th win on a trot to reach at the top 4 to get back in the race for Champions League qualification, The Hammers will look to continue their good run in the last 6 games, where they lost in only 1 match. They are currently at 25 points, just 2 points short of their successors in the current league table.
Leeds United vs Manchester City: 23 hours before the current table toppers, Arsenal, kick off their 2nd consecutive London derby, Pep Guardiola’s side will step onto the pitch against newly motivated Leeds United at their home in their Premier League match. While this is a must-win match for City to reduce the gap to 2 points from the table toppers, in-form Leeds will aim to repeat their last home match’s result. Leeds has been strong at home this season, with just 1 defeat in the last 5 home games, which came against league leader Arsenal. A win for City can also increase the pressure on Arsenal before they face Liam Rosenior’s side on Sunday at Emirates Stadium.
Fulham vs Tottenham: This will be a very important match for the Spurs after their home defeat in the North London Derby. The threat of religion from the Premier League is very much real to them, and to avoid the disgraceful result of 1976-77, when Spurs were relegated for the last time. Tottenham has got 19 points in their 13 away games, compared to 10 points in 14 home matches, and this will obviously offer them some motivation before facing Fulham at Craven Cottage. A win, on the other hand, will help the host to hold their position, if not improve in the top-half of the table.
Manchester United Vs Crystal Palace: With 16 points in the last 6 matches under Michael Carrick, Manchester United has become a strong contender for 1 of the Champions League spots from the English Premier League. The Red Devils will look to strengthen their position in the top 4 with another 3 points at their home. On the other hand, The Eagles are looking to continue their high-fly under Oliver Glasner, and 3 more points will help them to improve their run towards the top-half of the table.
Arsenal vs Chelsea: After a stunning win in the North London Derby last week, the Gunners are now ready for another London Derby. As Manchester City is just 5 points away with a match in hand, Mikel Arteta’s side can’t drop any more points to bring an end to their prolonged drought of league success. On the other hand, two consecutive draws have threatened Chelsea’s position in the top 4. Liam Rosenior’s side will be looking for a win to bring them back in the race for a Champions League spot. This will make this London Derby a showstopper in match week 28 of the Premier League.
Out of these high-intensity clashes, which one of these Premier League matches are you looking for this weekend?
